My children and wife made mozzarella in their kitchen and we ate lunch ( the best food our entire trip) on their lawn overlooking Sorrento. The family was warm and friendly, proud of their heritage and livelihood which made us feel special and part of their family. As we wanted an “authentic” day, he made plans for us to spend the afternoon with a family at their farm in the hills of Sorrento overlooking the bay… words cannot describe it and we will never forget this wonderful experience. Luigi picked us up in Naples on our way to Positano. His knowledge of the area and culture is incredible and he will recommend exactly what is perfect for you… trust him he knows what he is talking about! Our family felt safe, he is an excellent driver, and most importantly he cared about us and sincerely wanted the best for my family. Having Luigi with us as we toured Sorrento was better than we ever expected. All started with me taking a chance and calling ‘Your Italian driver’ that I found just like you are finding this post. Having Pasquale to translate definitely helped! This guy is the real deal. So yeah, they rolled out the red carpet and I ended up having one of the most amazing days of my life. It turned out that I traced back to five well known families from the 1800’s and my Great Great Grandparents home is now the town museum with all the original furniture. When we arrived in the town, the relatives who came out to greet us were just as excited as we were, Pasquale included. The whole ride was educational as Pasquale kept myself, my wife and two teenage boys entertained with stories about the areas we were driving through and Italian heritage in general. Having never been to the town my Great Grandparents where from and having no connection to anyone, Pasquale was able to track down a couple distant relatives and told me ‘I think they might be waiting with the red carpet rolled out.’ He picked us up in Sorrento from our Hotel in a beautiful Mercedes oversized van and drove 3 hours to a small town called San Martino D’Agri in Potenza.
